Soundcard

Anyone know of a cheap soundcard that will work with Vista beta2? And without tricks? Vista beta 2 will recognize it and install it. I give up on M-Audio Audiophile 192 and Audigy2 ZS. Thanks.

You might be able to get sound at least with the KX drivers. You probably won't get sound from all the jacks, but at least you'll get sound. http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/down.php?language=en. "Jalo Joe" wrote in message

Don't you have inbuilt sound on the Mobo, that usually works fine out of the box. Do not install drivers for it just use the default drivers that come with Vista.

Travis, thanks for the link and the reply. Tried using the kx drivers but it did no good. Will try the MOBO route.

Jonah, I took both cards out of my machine but the onboard soundcard is not recognized on restart. It did recognize a high definition audio device. I will keep trying, though. Thanks for the information.

I kept trying and was able to get the onboard Realtek ALC 883 working. I installed the drivers 2 or 3 times, cleaned the registry, etc. and finally I had sound. It wouldn't work after all of that and then what was funny I went into Control Panel / Audio Devices/Realtek HD Audio Output & Properties (right click) / Options.... I then upped the quality from 16 bit, CD 44100 Hz to 16 bit,48000 Hz (DVD Quality), clicked Test and had sound. I also went back to the General tab, clicked Properties and checked "Stereo Mix" and "CD Player." I hope this might help someone that has had as much trouble getting sound as I have. I would rather have my M-Audio Audiophile 192 soundcard but until the drivers are available at least I'll have sound (I hope it keeps working). Thanks for your help, guys!

I hope you have provided this to MS via the feedback link. It is good feedback.

I have a really annoying soundcard problem. The soundcard works and the drivers are installed but each time I go into places like control panel, computer and so on I get a dialogue box which tells me my soundcard drivers are not compatible with Vista. Yet the sound works. I downloaded the Realtek AC97 Vista Beta drivers from the Realtek website and upon installing I get an error to say I need a Microsoft Bus Driver. lol TBH I am not actually bothered about this driver as the sound works, I just want to get rid of this annoying warning that comes up. Can anyone please help?

Just to let you all know, I downloaded the XP drivers from Acer website and it solved the problem. So I am not sure what version of driver Vista installed.

Too stupid for a beta OS.
When you help someone like this they will just be back in a few more days with more stupid question.

This is a newsgroup designed for users of this "Customer preview Program" to get some assistance with issues in reference to Vista. Your comment was inapproriate and mean. Users should be encouraged to use this support group not be made fun of. Finally I think when the day is over you may find yourself being ignored. Enjoy your weekend sir
